AnShen Holistic Veterinary Care

Jody Bearman, began her journey as a veterinarian 26 years ago. Since then, her veterinary path has included studies in conventional medicine, Chinese medicine, homeopathy and animal chiropractic care. During my conversation with Jody, it was clear she is driven by a passion for finding the root of health problems in our beloved animal companions so that they may heal and stay healthy. What products and services do you offer? AnShen Holistic Veterinary Care offers traditional Chinese veterinary medicine including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, tui-na (Chinese massage), laser acupuncture, and also veterinary spinal manipulation therapy (College of Animal Chiropractors), applied kinesiology, homeopathy and laser therapy.

What made you want to be a business owner, specifically in your area of expertise? I always want animals to be treated with kindness and compassion, and owning my own business lets me make sure that all animals are treated they way they need to be.

How long have you been in business? 12 years

What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew? We do house and farm calls, along with seeing patients at Canine Sports Zone in Middleton and our two veterinary clinics. So for animals who don’t like to travel or are nervous outside of the home, or people who have difficulty traveling, it is easy for us to come to your home. And when we come to your home, your animal family is more comfortable, showing us who they really are, which helps us to be able to treat them better.

What is your favorite aspect of your business so far? My patients and clients! They are the best! Only the kindest, best animal guardians see me. I never see people who don’t adore their animals, so I only see the best of humanity, and also great animals!

What is your favorite quote? May all beings be at ease. Whatever living beings there may be. Buddha

How did you end up in Madison? I came here for undergrad at the University of Wisconsin in bacteriology, and after vet school my husband (another UW grad) and I decided this was the place for us!

Tell me why you love Madison. The dog parks, the rest of the parks, the farmers markets, the beauty of the area, the lakes, the Union, the wonderful people and animals, and the many things to do – no one could be bored here.

I love living in Madison and make the most of all it has to offer. In addition to socializing in the incredible food scene (I’m a true foodie!), I enjoy theatre, music, opera, kayaking, camping, and making day trips to experience Madison’s fantastic outlying communities. My long background in residential property management, paired with a formal education in psychology, inspired me to merge those experiences and become a real estate agent. Now I put those skills to work for you, fulfilling my inherent desire to help people, earn their trust, and advocate for their best interests. It all starts with the opportunity to hear about your dreams, concerns, and what’s important to you. So, let’s talk about your real estate goals. I look forward to listening to you.
