What products and services do you offer? Raising STRONG Boot Camps provides training for people of all ages teaching them to be strong in body, mind and spirit. We are focused on growing STRONG kids in a tough world. Our Girl, Kids or Family Boot Camp programming offer boot camp style workouts (that anyone can do) focused on exercise, leadership and self-development with life lessons. For more details on our specific program options, visit https://raisingstronggirlbootcamps.com.
Our mission is to help kids and families focus on growing strong bodies, strong minds and strong spirits as they work out together and learn life-lessons to navigate through the tough times in life. This type of teaching really resonates with everyone who participates as they learn to put themselves in others’ shoes, that kindness is important above all else, and that we are stronger together – so when we lift others up, we are also lifted up.
At Raising STRONG Boot Camps, as we bring kids and families together to get moving, encourage communication and grow stronger together, we find that through our programming, they all build a skillset that is truly life-changing.
We have worked with multiple non-profits and other businesses across the city of Madison and across the state providing quality content that impacts lives in a positive way.
What made you want to be a business owner, specifically in your area of expertise?
I created Raising Strong Boot Camps because my daughter didn’t know what to do in a situation where a little girl with a disability was bullied, and I never wanted her to not know how to stand up for herself and others ever again. As I talked to her about it, I realized the value of what I knew all girls and kids needed to learn. This situation is where the idea of Raising STRONG Boot Camps began.
Why Boot Camps? I have served in the military for more than 17 years and have a background in physical and movement education and love helping our kids grow stronger while teaching them the value of growing strong together! Our Educational Boot Camps focus on developing self-confidence, self-awareness through teaching a growth mindset of “You are… I am… We are awesome.”
How long have you been in business?
Raising Strong Boot Camps has run for the past two summers in Madison and became an official business in April 2018.
What is your favorite thing about being a business owner in Madison?
I love the support I get from all the people I meet. I know that I will find success here because people are always asking, “How can I support you and help you grow your business?”
What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew?
We believe that all girls and kids need this programming. We cannot wait to invest in our youth as they are struggling so much with depression, anxiety and suicide at an all-time high. I believe that we can change the future for our kids and for ourselves by raising up the next generation of strong kids who know how to overcome anything. Confident kids are less likely to be bullied and less likely to bully others, especially with the training provided through Raising STRONG Boot Camps.
What is your favorite aspect of your business so far?
Knowing that I have positively impacted the lives of the girls, kids and families involved. I have seen kids come back with more self-confidence. I have had parents report back on kind acts that their kids are doing both within their families and in their communities. I have had moms tell me that they needed the confidence boost from words of affirmation as much as their children, and I have had kids hug me and tell me that they really loved what I taught them. I just love knowing that I am positively impacting the lives of others every single day.
I love giving kids new words to define themselves and getting rid of the negative: you are not weird – you are unique; you are not an introvert or shy – you are attentive or a good – listener; you are not a loud mouth – you are a born leader. We can always take the negative and make it positive, we just need to show kids how to do it more often!
What is your favorite service you offer?
My favorite service I offer is Raising Strong Girls2 Boot Camp (Boot Camps for girls and the adult girls in their lives): It allows me to connect with my daughters and invest in our future relationships. I know that the value of the skills I teach these girls as they build self – confidence and self -esteem along with self – awareness (how they fit into the world around them) can change the lives of these girls in a very powerful way. I love knowing that I am positively impacting the world and believe that these girls will continue to do amazing things!
What is your favorite quote?
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world” ~ Ghandi
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” ~Helen Keller
